The Politeknik Kesehatan Republik Indonesia (Poltekes RI) Medan, Department of Dental Health, conducted the Field Learning Experience (PBL) at the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM USU). This program, which began in early August 2024 and lasted eight full weeks, involved students in various practical dental and oral health aspects.
During the PBL period, Poltekes RI Medan students had the opportunity to work directly under the guidance of Clinical Instructors, who are experienced dentists at RSGM USU. The program covered several key areas: Management, Clinical Assistance for PSPPDG and Residents, Medical Records, and the Central Sterilization Services Department (CSSD).
The primary goal of this PBL program was to provide students with comprehensive and practical work experience, deepen their knowledge, and enhance their clinical and managerial skills in a hospital setting. By actively participating in clinical processes, patient management, medical record handling, and sterilization procedures, students were expected to better prepare themselves for the challenges of the professional dental health field.
It is hoped that the experiences gained during this eight-week program will significantly benefit Poltekes RI Medan students in their future careers and improve the quality of dental health education.
