RSGM and FKG USU, along with PDGI Medan Branch, IDGAI, and IKORGI North Sumatra, Lead a Collaborative Response to the Sumatra Flood Disaster.

The Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) and the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Sumatera Utara, in collaboration with the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) Medan Branch, the Indonesian Association of Pediatric Dentists (IDGAI), and the Indonesian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IKORGI) of North Sumatra, responded to the severe flooding that affected several regions in Sumatra through a humanitarian initiative entitled Sumatra Flood Disaster Response.
This initiative was realized through the collection and distribution of humanitarian aid, including wearable clothing, medicines, staple food supplies, and other essential necessities, as well as the provision of equipment to support public kitchens for affected communities. The program aimed to address both immediate needs and basic health support for disaster victims.
As part of the on-site response, the Director of RSGM USU, drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp. KKA (K)., FICD, accompanied by the Vice Director, drg. Ranu Putra Armidin, MKM, and the Head of Medical Services of RSGM USU, drg. M. Kadafi Hasibuan, Sp.KG, led a medical and humanitarian team to Aceh Tamiang on Monday, 16 December 2025. The team consisted of one general practitioner, dr. Muhammad Khairuna Syahputra, two medical staff members, and three non-medical staff members.
In addition to distributing aid, the team provided basic health services and medical treatment based on patients’ complaints, including blood pressure checks, physical examinations, and screenings for blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels. The activities were carried out in Kebun Tanjung Seumentoh Village and Tanah Barongga Hamlet, serving nearly 200 patients from the affected communities.
Through this humanitarian action, RSGM USU reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian service as an integral part of its mission of community engagement, particularly in responding to emergency and disaster situations.
