RSGM USU Officially Welcomes 2025 PPDGS FKG USU Residents: Strengthening Synergy Between Clinical Education and Healthcare Services

The Dental and Oral Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) officially welcomed the 2025 cohort of Specialist Dental Education Program (PPDGS) residents from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) through a clinical education handover ceremony held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The event, which took place in the Nazir Alwi Hall, FKG USU, marked a significant moment in reinforcing the synergy between dental education institutions and hospital services as a clinical training center.

The Dental and Oral Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) officially welcomed the 2025 cohort of Specialist Dental Education Program (PPDGS) residents from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKG USU) through a clinical education handover ceremony held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The event, which took place in the Nazir Alwi Hall, FKG USU, marked a significant moment in reinforcing the synergy between dental education institutions and hospital services as a clinical training center.


The ceremony opened with remarks from the Dean of FKG USU, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K), Director of RSGM USU, drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp.KKA(K), and Deputy Director of RSGM USU, drg. Ranu Putra Armidin, MKM. In their addresses, the leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between education and clinical services in producing professional, ethical, and competent dental specialists committed to high-quality dental and oral healthcare.


The event continued with the reading of the integrity pact by a representative of the PPDGS residents, followed by the symbolic handover of students from FKG USU to RSGM USU, marking the official start of their clinical education period. This handover symbolizes the trust and responsibility bestowed upon RSGM USU as a primary clinical education center in North Sumatra.


Following the ceremony, a briefing session for new residents was held at the RSGM USU meeting room. The session featured presentations from Head of the Education, Research, and Community Service Division, drg. Gebby Gabrina, and Head of Medical, Non-Medical, and Nursing Services Division, drg. Muhammad Kadafi Hasibuan, Sp.KG, along with supporting teams including the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (PMKP) Team, the Infection Prevention and Control (PPI) Team, the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety (K3RS) Team, pharmacists from the Pharmacy Unit, and RSGM USU’s IT staff, who provided orientation on the use of the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS).
The orientation aimed to equip residents with a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations, service standards, clinical procedures, and applicable regulations at RSGM USU. With this preparation, PPDGS students are expected to carry out their clinical education professionally, adhering to established quality standards and patient safety principles.


This handover and briefing ceremony marks a strong beginning for the new PPDGS residents in their clinical training at RSGM USU, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to supporting the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—education, research, and community service—and advancing the quality of dental and oral healthcare services in Indonesia.
