The Dental and Oral Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) took part in a pediatric dental health community service event organized by the Indonesian Society of Pediatric Dentistry (IDGAI) North Sumatra Chapter on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Niagara Hotel, Parapat, North Sumatra. The event highlighted RSGM USU's strong commitment to improving children's oral health in the region.
The event was officially opened with remarks from the Director of RSGM USU, drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp.KKA(K), FICD, also serves as IDGAI North Sumatra's Chair. Also present were the Chair of IDGAI Central Board, drg. Iwan Ahmad M., Sp.KGA, Subsp.KKA(K), Deputy Chairperson of PKK North Sumatra, Mrs. Hj. Titiek Sugiharti Surya, along with other distinguished figures, including the Chair of PKK Simalungun Regency and representatives from the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office. Their presence underscored strong support for advancing pediatric dental care in the region.
Professional medical teams from RSGM USU—comprising general dentists, pediatric dentists, and pediatric subspecialists—provided free dental services, including:
- Dental check-ups for children
- Cavity fillings
- Scaling and cleaning
- Extraction of damaged teeth
- Topical fluoride application for caries prevention
- Oral health education for children and parents
Through this initiative, RSGM USU reaffirmed its role as a leading center for dental care and education in North Sumatra, particularly in raising public awareness of the importance of early dental health. The hospital remains committed to delivering the best services and contributing to social programs to build a healthier, brighter-smiling generation.
