The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM USU), conducted an accreditation visitation for the Dentistry Education and Professional Study Program (PSPPDG) from September 23–25, 2024. This visitation was carried out by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) and involved assessors Prof. drg. Diatri Nari Ratih, M.Kes., Sp.KG., Ph.D, Dr. drg. Menik Priaminiarti, Sp.RKG (K), and Dr. drg. Yanti Rusyanti, M.Kes., Sp.Perio (K).
The opening ceremony on the first day was lively, featuring speeches from the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., and the Dean of FKG, Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K). Both emphasized the importance of accreditation in improving educational quality. The event, held at the Nazir Alwi Building of FKG USU, was also attended by the Director of RSGM USU, drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp.KKA(K).
On the second day, the assessors conducted field inspections at several healthcare facilities, including RSGM USU. Accompanied by the Dean of FKG USU and her team, along with the Director, Deputy Director, and Division Heads of RSGM USU, the assessors evaluated various rooms and services. The inspection covered facilities such as the Emergency Room (ER), Inpatient Rooms, Central Surgery Room, CSSD, Pharmacy, Integrated Clinics I and III, Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, and the Dental Radiology Installation at RSGM USU.
During the visitation, the assessors paid close attention to various operational and service aspects at RSGM USU. These observations ensured that all facilities met the required standards and supported students' learning. Through this accreditation, FKG USU aims to continue improving the quality of education and dental healthcare services, ultimately contributing to better community health outcomes.
