RSGM USU Welcomes Official Visit from USK Faculty of Dentistry to Discuss the Implementation of Dental Hospital Business Services

The Dental and Oral Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) welcomed an official visit from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK) on Monday, September 1, 2025. The visit aimed to discuss the implementation of RSGM USK’s business service model, while strengthening academic and healthcare collaboration among dental institutions in Indonesia.

The Dental and Oral Hospital of Universitas Sumatera Utara (RSGM USU) welcomed an official visit from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK) on Monday, September 1, 2025. The visit aimed to discuss the implementation of RSGM USK’s business service model, while strengthening academic and healthcare collaboration among dental institutions in Indonesia.


Representing FKG USK were Dean Prof. Dr. drg. Cut Soraya, M.Pd., Sp.KG, accompanied by Vice Dean for Resources and Finance drg. Herwanda, M.Kes, and the Business Service Team of FKG USK. From Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), attendees included RSGM USU Director drg. Siti Salmiah, Sp.KGA., Subsp.KKA(K), FICD; RSGM USU Deputy Director drg. Ranu Putra Armidin, MKM; Dean of FKG USU Dr. drg. Essie Octiara, Sp.KGA., Subsp.PKOA(K); Vice Dean III of FKG USU Dr. drg. Pitu Wulandari, S.Psi., Sp.Perio., Subsp.MP(K); and several Heads of Medical Staff (KSM) in Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine.


The event began with opening remarks from the Director of RSGM USU, who emphasized the importance of managing dental and oral hospitals based on both general and specialist services. She highlighted that such management serves as a key pillar in supporting dental education, research, and community service.


Following the opening session, both institutions engaged in an interactive discussion forum that explored various aspects of implementing the RSGM USK business service model. The discussions focused on academic service management strategies, governance models for teaching hospitals, and the development of specialized service units. The forum provided an important platform for exchanging experiences, innovations, and best practices in managing dental and oral healthcare services within higher education institutions.


In the closing session, the FKG USK delegation conducted an on-site visit to several RSGM USU service units, including:

 

  • Specialist Service Units, including Pediatric Dentistry

  • Emergency Department (IGD)

  • Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD)

  • Integrated Clinic

  • Dental Radiology Installation

  • Inpatient Care Unit

  • Central Surgical Installation


This visit is expected to strengthen collaboration among faculties of dentistry across Indonesia, enhance the quality of dental and oral healthcare services, and promote the implementation of sustainable, academically driven business service models. Moreover, this partnership represents a shared commitment to advancing dental healthcare excellence and supporting the development of dental science both nationally and internationally.
